Why choose Devonshire Place Dental Practice
Devonshire Place Dental Practice has a long history of oral surgery. Dr Geoff Allan is a Specialist in Oral surgery and was one of the first practising Oral Surgeons in the UK. He continues to practice at 35DP today and has spent much of his career treating cleft palate cases and was joint author of ‘Treatment of the Cleft Palate Patient’.
We now have an excellent team of clinicians, Dr Nick Lewis and Dr Assif Ahmed, that work alongside Dr Allan.
The most common procedure that is carried out by a specialist in oral surgery are dental extractions such as impacted wisdom teeth and sinus lifts. Mr Nick Lewis has a special interest and extensive experience in the area of sinus lifts.
What are impacted wisdom teeth?
Impacted wisdom teeth (also known as impacted third molars) are wisdom teeth that are unable to fully break through the gum into the mouth because of blockage from other teeth (impaction). Impacted wisdom teeth can cause inflammation and infection causing pain and damage to adjacent teeth.
Why do teeth need to be surgically extracted?
Surgical extraction of a tooth is a more complex procedure than an extraction that a Dentist may be able to undertake. A tooth may have broken off at the gum line or has not erupted in the mouth. The oral surgeon will make a small incision into your gum to surgically remove the broken tooth or impacted wisdom tooth.
What is a sinus lift?
A sinus lift is surgery that adds bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. It’s sometimes called a sinus augmentation. The bone is added between your jaw and the maxillary sinuses, which are on either side of your nose.
Consultation fee (new patients only) – £125
Sinus Lifts from £850
Wisdom & Surgical Extractions from £300-480
During your consultation, your Specialist will take an Extra-Oral X-Ray (OPG), paying special attention to the sinuses, inferior alveolar nerve (nerve in lower jaw) and the angle of impacted wisdom teeth to assess the type of surgical procedure that will be required. All aspects of the treatment options and associated cost will be clearly explained during your consultation.
We are an approved Dental Finance provider and offer Finance options for treatments costing over £1,000, which can be interest free for up to 12 months. If you choose to apply for this, an approval decision can be reached on the day of your appointment and includes a 14 day cancellation option.
